Fees and FAQs

Fees

My fees range from $150-$200 for a 50 minute session. I’m happy to offer a complimentary 15 minute consultation to determine if we are a good fit for each other.

  • No, I am not in-network with any insurance company. Payments will be made on the day of service via a credit card that will be saved to your account. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be eligible to be reimbursed for some portion of the cost of your session.

I recommend that you call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:

    • Do I have benefits for out-of-network mental health services?

    • Does my plan offer coverage for virtual mental health services?

    • If I pay for my sessions with an out of network provider, can I be reimbursed for those sessions?

    • Is there a deductible for outpatient mental health services? How much is the deductible for out of network services? How much have I already paid toward that deductible?

    • The insurance company may ask what the “CPT” code is for services. The most frequent codes I use are: 1. Individual therapy, 60 minutes, 90837 and 2. Couples/ family therapy, 90847.

    • How do I submit claims for out-of-network reimbursement?

  • In order to practice in the United States, a therapist must be licensed in each state they practice in. I am licensed in Virginia and Oregon to provide therapeutic services. However, I also practice as a life coach and can see clients anywhere in the world in a coaching capacity. Feel free to reach out and we can discuss coaching as an option if you don’t reside in Virginia or Oregon.

  • My practice is completely virtual. I will send you a secure, telehealth link where we can meet. Most of my clients love the freedom and comfort of virtual work. Online therapy may not be the best option for everyone. If you have questions or concerns about it, we can talk through them and determine if you’d like to try it.

  • I want to provide you with the tools and skills you need to manage the challenges that you encounter. It’s impossible to say how long therapy will take because every individual and couple is different. But, my goal is to provide a safe space for you to grow and develop the confidence you need to manage on your own. For most people, I suggest meeting weekly at first. This helps us develop rapport and connection and helps build momentum in your healing process. As you get more comfortable with new skills, we can determine together when it is time to shift to seeing each other less frequently.

Good faith estimate/ the “no surprises act”:

Effective January 1, 2022, a ruling went into effect called the “No Surprises Act,” which requires mental health practitioners to provide a “Good Faith Estimate” (GFE) about out-of-network care to any patient who is uninsured or who is insured but does not plan to use their insurance benefits to pay for health care items and/ or services.

The Good Faith Estimate works to show the cost of items and services that are reasonably expected for your mental health care needs for an item or service. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.

You are entitled to receive this “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for psychotherapy services provided to you. While it is not possible for a psychotherapist to know, in advance, how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person upon the initiation of psychotherapy, this form provides an estimate of the cost of services provided. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services from the provider(s) listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here.
