Welcome to Abiding Roots Therapy

I’m so glad that you’re here! I’m Callie, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I applaud the strength and courage that you have in pursuing this path.

I would describe myself as compassionate, non-judgmental, encouraging and genuine and I sincerely believe in the strength and resiliency of individuals. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by people, their stories, and in understanding human behaviors better.

I have a voracious passion for travel and have lived in and visited over 35 countries. Experiencing individuals from all over the world, I have learned that we all have basic needs and wants, despite whether we live on the coasts of Mozambique, a small Tuscan village, or in bustling Paris. We all want to be seen, heard, appreciated, valued, and know that our desires and dreams and passions matter to others. We want security and safety- to know that we have a soft place to land at the end of a hard day. Although our life experiences vary wildly, at the core, we have a fundamental need to be in relationship with others.

This knowledge and understanding has fueled my passion to study counseling and all that comes with it. I have always been the friend that people would tell their stories to, and now I have the privilege of working with individuals who are invested in learning and understanding more about themselves, working through the areas that keep them stuck, and creating the relationships and patterns that they long for in their lives.

Often, we hold deep beliefs about ourselves and others that do not serve us. We can find ourselves struggling to find happiness and peace. I believe our relationships affect our lives in nearly every aspect and healthy relationships are born from healthy individuals. I enjoy working with individuals and couples to identify what their goals are and work towards harmony. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Attachment Theory, which I believe are the most powerful avenues in creating the closeness and connection that we long for. My education includes a B.A. in Anthropology from Utah State University and a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia (License # 0701014237) and the state of Oregon (License #C9191).

I’m happiest when I’m outside in the sunshine at the beach or the lake- wake boarding or wake surfing. I love guacamole and ice cream, traveling, long walks with friends, and spending time with the people I love most. I enjoy hosting parties, decorating my house, reading, and cuddling with my dog. My personal relationships provide the best learning experiences in my life, the biggest challenges, and the most happiness and fulfillment. I treasure each of these relationships and count them as my biggest blessing.
